Jai waited for us on the bridge, his engineers fast at work. I stepped in and towards him and met his gaze. “Into the belly of the beast we go.”

“Yes, they still outnumber us,” I said. “You confirmed their species?”

“Vrolsh, looks like some pretty high up commanders and ships.”

I sighed, and Tyto chased Miquel out of the way, taking his station.

Miquel came to me, grasped both of my arms in his. “It is good to have you back on board though, Kyle.”

“The people I brought with me, they need a guide. Will you stick with them while we’re preparing for this?”

“I am no babysitter.” He laughed. “But I have been getting used to seeing to others’ needs as well as the ships while Tyto has been away.”

“You’ve done a great job,” Tyto said. “There’s been some serious upgrades here.”

I checked the status of Artemis. Nice!
